Amanda Heckenkamp

Project Manager

Amanda joined the Weikart Center team in September 2017.

Amanda graduated from Michigan State University in 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Work and a Minor in French. While in school, she focused her studies on the advancement of youth, education, and social justice. Her professional objective is to empower youth, foster creativity, and strengthen communities through education and engagement.

Amanda spent the 2016-2017 school year teaching English to secondary schoolers in the North of France, during which period she was able to travel extensively throughout Europe and North Africa. Prior to that, she had a number of experiences working with children and youth in various out-of-school-time settings. Amanda first became familiar with the Weikart Center’s work when she was a teen consultant with Ann Arbor’s Neutral Zone for the Youth Driven Spaces Initiative in 2011.
